My Thoughts ..............4

1) Arjuna was lucky to have Bhagwan with him in his fight at Kurukshetra, for us it is daily Kurukshetra in our day-to-day life, we need to stay connected with Govinda, 24x7, emotionally to be victorious in all our endeavors!

2) If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change. If you're in a good situation, it'll change too. no situation is going to stay permanent. Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it!

3) In Tamil Kashtam means difficult, and we have so many Customs, which are man-made, be pure to self, have pure intent, surrender to HIM and no Kashtam shall come near you nor do you need any customs!

4) Each soul when in the mother's womb witnesses the hellish pain suffered by the body (Garbhashta Narakam), based on its past karmas, and it thinks that the moment I step out of the womb, I shall strive to live a life that doesn't have a re-birth again, but what happens is the moment the soul in the body of a child steps out, gets caught by MAYA, that's the reason our ancestors insisted upon reading Bhagavatam, etc by the pregnant mothers, so that the soul inside the womb imbibes all the samskaras from there within!

5) If you do not have a dire thirst and longing to gain knowledge, even KRISHNA cannot help, the burning desire needs to come from within the self,.. no one can force you, nor cut open ur brain put knowledge into it, having a library full of books is useless, the library becomes a feast for white ants!

6) Life is light that should be used to search the self in the realm of darkness ruled by Ego, Greed, Desire, Anger, and lust!

7) Respect cannot be demanded, it can be earned only when you sacrifice many things for good of others!

8) A complete surrender to God is giving up all your fancies and wishes and giving HIM all the liberty to choose what is best for you!

9) The two important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why!

10) Everything will line up perfectly when knowing and living the truth becomes more important than looking good!

My Thoughts ............3

My Thoughts ............3

1)When you sacrifice something for someone, do not expect something from them, do it out of love without any expectations!

2) Repetition of anything including Mantras becomes mechanical, your mind too becomes a machine, lubricate it with emotion from the heart, and do not allow it to become a machine, and connect to the unlimited self!

3) Many may prefer marrying after getting settled in business or a job, but your biological clock isn't bothered with all these, it does not wait for you, infact with lots of tensions and responsibilities it ages you faster, marry at the right age, and have kids early and then get settled in life! Our Ancestors were not fools!

4) You cannot search for your shadow in the darkness, as during the darkness, your body is taken up by the shadow itself due to ignorance, when the knowledge shines within you like the Sun, the shadow falls down when you are shining!

5) Silence is the safest response for all the contradiction that arises from impertinence, vulgarity, and envy.  Silence is the rest of the mind and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment & refreshment.  It is a great virtue: it covers folly, keeps secrets, avoids disputes, and prevents Sin!

6) Remember beauty is not permanent, any number of layers of foundation on the face will not help, have layers of foundation deep within the self!

7) Once you accept your existence in this world is because of the blessings of your mother, once you accept your excellence in your studies is with the blessings of your teachers, once you accept your success in your career is due to the cooperation of your colleagues, once you accept because of cooperation of your wife you have a happy life,... You will realize you are nothing without so many people in your life, there is no scope for your ego to grow!

8) Ego and Desire are like twins, each appreciates the other and works in tandem for our downfall!

9) If you don't know where you are going, check out, maybe you're already there!

10) I do nothing of my own. He does it. I m God’s pencil. All Actions are performed by the gunas of prakriti. Deluded by his identification with the ego, a person thinks, ‘I am the doer.’ But the illumined man or woman understands the domain of the gunas and is not attached. Such people know that the gunas interact with each other; they do not claim to be the doer.

Iyers and Iyengars

Iyers and Iyengars

TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN DYING TO KNOW:

What is the difference between Iyer and Iyengar if both are Tamil Brahmins?

Abstract: Iyers and Iyengars are both Tamil Brahmins who differ in their core philosophies.

In many religions, there is a schism based on the relative priorities accorded to saints and the scriptures. Iyers place more emphasis on the Smriti [scriptures], while Iyengars place more emphasis on the Acharyas [teachers].

It is not about  Supreme Gods Shiva vs.  Sri Maha Vishnu as both are one and the same ,  Iyers are not Shivites, but Smartas. It is primarily about philosophy [Vishishtadvaita vs Advaita Vedanta] and priorities [acharya vs smriti].

Iyers follow the Smarta Tradition - a more liberal form of Hinduism whose worship contain 5 key deities -  Gods Shiva,  Sri Vishnu,  Ma Shakti,  God Surya and  God Ganesha -  God Shanmuga - and many more Gods.

Adi Shankara is their primary guru and Advaita is their primary philosophy.

According to Advaita philosophy there is no difference between God and humans. The illusion of Maya makes our souls different from that of the Brahman. A Smarta's goal is to pierce the screen of Maya to reach unity with the Universe. The preferred path is Jnana [knowledge].

Iyengars follow the Sri Vaishnava tradition - a more stringent form of Hinduism where the worship primarily centers around the  Sri Vishnu pantheon. Iyengars are the followers of Ramanuja and Vishishtadvaita is their primary philosophy. Vishishtadvaita philosophy defines 3 entities - God, living and nonliving things. The goal of the jivas [living] is to merge with the Creator [Parabrahman] , primarily through the path of Bhakti [devotion].

Their core philosophy affects their appearance too. Iyers sport the Tripundra [3 marks]- forehead markings made with ash. The ash signifies that everything eventually burns in the end and we must get beyond the worldly illusions of Maya.
The three lines signify three barriers to truth - anava [ego], karma [deeds] and maya [illusion].

Iyengars sport the Sricharanam [God's feet] in their forehead. Sricharanam reminds a Srivaishnavite to always think the feet of the God and spend their life in devotion. [There are two different sects within the tradition who wear it in slightly different ways.]

The two outer lines are the Lord's feet [imagine someone standing with their feet in V-shape position] and the inner line is that of Mahalakshmi who is keeping her feet closed due to modesty.

There are again two dominant groups within Srivaishnavism - the northern sect [vadakalai] following Vedanta Desika as one of the key guiding paths, while the southern sect [thenkalai] following Manavala Mamunigal as a guiding spirit.
Key differences between Smarta and Srivaishnavas:

1. Holy text vs. holy teachers: Smarta's primarily concern with the Smriti - scriptures. While Smartas respect their teachers too, the Srivaishnavites are unrivalled in their devotion to the teachers [acharya] . For the latter, the acharyas often rank even higher than gods. This interestingly also divides the Sunnis [followers of the scriptures] from the Shias who put more devotion to their Imamah [teachers].

2. Holy temples: Smartas celebrate the 275 temples [Paadal Petra Sthalam]that have been glorified their gurus termed nayanmars.Srivaishnavites celebrate the 106 temples [Divya Desam] that have been glorified by their acharyas. There are intersections of both in Kanchi and Chidambaram. The devotion of the latter towards their 106 holy temples is unrivalled by the former.

3. Holy scriptures: The daily prayers of Smartas center around the 5 Sukhtas [Purusha, Sri, Durga, Narayana and Rudra]. Srivaishnavas differ in their 5 Sukthas taking Purusha, Sri, Narayana, Bhu, Nila as the five key chapters from Vedas for their everyday recitation.

4. Language: Smarthas include more of Sanskrit in their speech and prayers. Srivaisnavites, especially the thenkalai group include much more of pure Tamil in theirs.

5. Mission: Smarthas all come under the Sankara mutt and most often the one in Kanchi. This is equivalent of their Church with Sankaracharya having the status of the Pope. Vadakalai Srivaishnavas come under 4 big mutts/ashrams - Ahobila, Parakala, Srirangam Andavan Ashram and Poundrikapuram Andavan ashram, while the Thenkalai have even more numerous acharyas with the prominent one being the Vanamamalai mutt at Nanguneri.
Besides these there are noticeable differences in diets, festivals and traditions involving weddings and other events.

As a final note, many people think Hinduism to be a non-religion because there are no prophets, scriptures or central organization. However, once you get at the level of individual traditions - you can see Srivaishnava or Smartha traditions are religions in every way - with prophets, scriptures, institutions, rules and symbols. Hinduism is just the big tree that carries all these individual branch religions. That again answers a typical question in Tamil Nadu on why the Smartas and Srivaishnavites are so intent on keeping their caste traditions. Because for them, their tradition is their religion and guiding philosophy.

Vedas are like the Himalayas that feed an enormous number of streams. These rivers like religions take different paths, feed different people, but all end up in the ocean of Paramathma. There are many such mountains across the world, feeding many river systems but reaching the same ocean called by different names.

My Thoughts ............1

My Thoughts .... 1

1. When the body is in motion it is alive, and the moment the activity ceases it's dead, live a quality life, help others, and be humble, even animals too exists, don't exist, live life!

2. Want to be free, then don't imitate others, don't fall for others' opinions and criticism, and be as you are, that is freedom!

3. When someone ends the chat or a conversation by saying "BYE", what does that mean?. They are saying Burn Your Ego. .. "Good-Bye", it will be good if you Burn Your Ego!

4. Imagine a situation that Bhagwan Yama becomes emotional and announces each Human Being can give a wish list of just 5 of their near and dear and he will bring them for a company in the Yama Loka!

All the fakery of saying I love you, I care for you, etc ........... at the drop of hat will stop, Sab ko apni jaan pyari hai 😂😂 Only a very few rare genuine ones will show the courage to travel with their loved ones, have people around, those are the blessings even in the afterlife!

5. The best way to enjoy life is never to argue, even when you know that person is lying to you, just smile and let it go, that is just a temporary emotion, and once you master it, you will stop reacting to things that are not important to you in life!
